Hypothetical question to settle an argument:

Two people are competing in an archery competition. If one person gets distracted by someone, and while they are distracted, the other person makes the shot and hits the target they were both aiming for-- that still counts as a legitimate win, doesn't it?

The target was hit, and so the battle was won. In many types of battle--even Boxing included--if your opponent doesn't keep their eyes on the goal and they get hit with a sharp right-hook that knocks them down for the count, that's what the people of this world would call a 'skill issue', I believe?

In short, no matter what may have distracted one party, it doesn't change the rules for the outcome of the competition.

The "distraction" was a shirtless FISHERMAN. AT AN ARCHERY COMPETITION. I think I'm allowed to be caught off-guard by that and not have my skill judged!

I take competition very seriously, so honestly, there's no other real answer.

He should take this as a lesson to make sure to focus next time so he can win.

The person making the shot is the legitimate winner. If the other person got distracted, that's on them. The point is to hit the target.
