No arguments there~! Especially if it gets me out of work for a bit.
Oh, no, Lighter's an old man! But maybe you're more like a silver fox. Who knows~?
It sounds exactly the same as the original, so that's what's making me think it's either a re-release or actually flawless. I thought I was gonna be listening to ABBA all month, but nope I gotta add this to the playlist ASAP!
Huh... well, you know yourself better than I do. Is there anything that you wish you could do, but had to restrain yourself?
Like... be more sassy, or more flirty? Or even just sing songs loudly.
The main thing about drag is that instead of trying to hide in the shadows, you're meant to make your presence very known.
[Which, ironically, is exactly why no matter how good Jun is at the dressing up part- he always fails at these drag competitions. He was a person who at his very core, thrived at being in the shadows. ]
[... He's really feeling that affectionate minor agitation Maxima mentioned last month here.]
Oh come on, I'm only 29. I was just a little surprised as how much time passed. I think it'll be a while before I reach silver fox levels, you know.
Maybe that's for the best, if it were too different people would get mad. And it's hard to capitalize on such a hit. No one else has gotten We Didn't Start The Fire right since the original one, after all. What's the phrase, "you can't top perfection"?
[Jun hadn't really noticed Ruddiger's absence. He'd been preoccupied with Haru suddenly getting worse, and his own sudden lack of teleportation. It's not like he missed the creature that treated him like an enemy threat, but... yeah, he guesses it's weird Ruddiger hasn't tried to pull anything. ]
Sorry, I haven't seen him, which is weird. Normally I see him every few days or so.
[You know, doing all he can to make Jun's life hell]
Appreciate it, Chief! I'll send over the address. I don't think the others will wanna so much as leave the room, so I'll just let the nurses know to expect someone to bring me stuff from home.
[... Yeah, maybe being vague has made this sound even worse. Harumasa decides that they're going to find out the details anyway given the severity of his condition, so... he might as well.]
Nah, no attacks from people! It's an internal injury. My illness targets my lungs and heart, so when I'm still coughing up blood despite having taken my emergency medicine, that's about when it's time to go to the doc.
[You say that as if Harumasa hasn't already Got Him by virtue of being an old client and a friend of Belle's.]
Heh, I'm hoping the cool green that someone added to my hair will delay that for a couple of years.
True. And it seems like the Swifties like all of those Taylor's Version songs well enough from that I know. Once in a Blue Moon a remix can work even if it's just a bit to the left.
[There's been a lot to worry about lately- even Varian didn't notice the raccoon's absence immediately. But three days is far too long for him to not show up. Varian's not stupid, he knows full well that Ruddiger and Jun get along like oil and water- that Ruddiger constantly treats Jun like an annoyance to his otherwise comfortable life. He knows his partner has no cause to worry about Ruddiger, the raccoon has put paid to that, but this is worrying him plenty. ]
Yeah, he always shows up after a day or two. Never this long. I've checked all the places he usually goes and he's not there.
[Yeah, their relationship was awful alright and Jun had no love of his own for the raccoon. But Varian being worried is enough cause for Jun to care. ]
Do you want me to help you look? I can't go too far, but I can at least check around various hard to reach spots in the fortress.
Do you mind? I know you two don't get along. [Understatement of the century. ] I'd really appreciate it, I can't get up there. And if he's hurt or something higher up...
[Varian's acrophobia means he can't check- but Jun can. But... ]
Just be careful, though. You don't have your teleportation, I don't want you to get hurt.
[ He's so freaking worried. This is the longest Ruddiger's been away from him since he got him 5 years ago. Even when he was in prison, Ruddiger would come to the bars outside the dungeon to check up on him, evading the guards to make sure Varian was still there. It feels like he's lost a piece of himself.]
Okay, that's good. He never goes too high, he's too lazy for that- but he does like the pipeworks in the common areas, where he can watch people.
[That's true. It's too late for Lighter, then. Rest in pieces, you beautiful bastard.]
That probably depends on your stress levels in the coming years~ Although, I could see you rocking the salt-and-pepper look!
I'll admit that I like her remixes more than her old songs, but that's probably because of experience at this point. I don't think I'd mind if artists went back to their old songs and see how their current experience transforms them.
